Biographical Note:

Mary O’Shea grew up in Cork. She attended St. Angela’s College and later studied at U.C.C. where she received a Master’s in French language and literature. She has lived in the U.K., France and North America.

Her writing career began after she moved to the U.K.  An early short story won her a Hennessy Literary Award. Other work of hers appeared in New Irish Writing and London Magazine. She was runner up in the William Trevor International Short Story Awards of 2008. She was invited to do a reading of her work (January 2010) in the Emerging Writers series at the Irish Writers’ Centre in Dublin. She is the overall winner of the 2011 Willesden Herald International Short Story Prize with a story which has been published in New Short Stories 5.

For a number of terms she ran a course in Fiction Writing at U.C.C.

She lives in Cork with her husband.
